BackerKit Goals!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 11, 2018 at 09:51:42 PM

The BackerKit surveys are in your email! And, with them, we're ready to reveal our first two BackerKit goals.

What is The Fantasy Trip Player Folio?

This 9" x 12" cardboard folio, which closes and secures with a slot/tab, was designed for those of you who are looking for a way to carry your character sheets, maps, and other campaign documents outside of the Legacy Edition box. If this goal is unlocked, every copy of the Legacy Edition box will include one player folio.

If you have any questions about your survey, please feel free to ask in the comments, and we'll help as best we can.

BackerKit Goal Unlocked, New Add-On, and a New Goal Revealed!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 11, 2018 at 09:51:11 PM

That was fast! Thanks, everyone, for the quick response to your surveys. Thanks to your continued support of The Fantasy Trip, we're happy to report that we have added one player folio to every Legacy Edition box. This is a 9” x 12” cardboard folio designed to store your character sheet, maps, campaign notes, and other important papers.

Additionally, the Player Folio is now available as an add-on item. If you have already completed your BackerKit survey and wish to add a folio or two to your rewards, you have until the project is locked (October 15, 2018) to revise your selected add-ons.

New Goal!

And with one of the revealed goals unlocked, we're happy to reveal the next BackerKit goal. If we raise $60,000 in BackerKit before October 1, we will add four dry erase character cards to the Legacy Edition box. Please note that these four cards would be in addition to the survey completion goal; if both the 50% of surveys completed by October 1 and $60,000 in BackerKit by October 1 goals are met, that would be a total of eight character cards added to the Legacy Edition box.

Survey Update, BackerKit Goals
over 5 years ago – Tue, Sep 11, 2018 at 01:52:44 AM

Kickstarter surveys for the PDF rewards have been sent out! Please complete your Kickstarter survey by the end of September 14 so that we can send your first PDF rewards -- Melee and Wizard (and maybe more!) -- next week. We can only send your rewards if you complete your survey.

NOTE: Starting on September 17, we will check for recently-completed Kickstarter surveys once each week and send out PDF rewards as appropriate. Failure to complete your survey before the end of September 14 may mean that you won't see your rewards until the week of the 24th . . . and then, only if you complete your survey by September 21. Please make life easier on all of us and complete your Kickstarter survey today.

BackerKit Surveys

The BackerKit smoke test started earlier today and, so far, is proceeding without trouble. If all goes well, we'll open the BackerKit survey to all supporters tomorrow. As part of the BackerKit stage, we're also launching new goals that may add more to the Legacy Edition box. As an example of the type of BackerKit goals you can expect to see, here's a sneak peek:

As with the Kickstarter surveys, please complete those BackerKit surveys ASAP. As you can see, some of our new BackerKit goals will be based on the percentage of surveys completed by October 1. Do your part, please, and help us unlock all of the planned BackerKit goals!

Project Update and Surveys Next Week
over 5 years ago – Sat, Sep 08, 2018 at 12:32:23 AM

Steve shared a status report in the Daily Illuminator today. The highlights include:

  • Melee, Wizard, Death Test, and Tollenkar's Lair all look good to enter premortem next week.
  • Megahex artwork has been assigned; the backs will be illustrated: "representing terrain, labyrinth features, or objects." These are gonna look fantastic!

Check Steve's post for the details.

Surveys Next Week

On Monday, we plan to start sending out two different types of surveys:

  • Kickstarter surveys, which we will need you to complete so that we can deliver your PDF rewards through Warehouse 23. We plan to start delivering PDFs -- starting with Melee and Wizard -- the week of September 17, so you will want to complete this survey ASAP. This survey is not for physical rewards.
  • BackerKit surveys, which is where you'll provide your address, select add-ons (if you pledged for any), and where you will be able to upgrade to a higher pledge if you choose. And yes, there will be preorder options for those who missed out on backing the project.

As Steve mentioned in today's Daily Illuminator entry, there will also be new stretch goals associated with the BackerKit stage of this campaign. We'll reveal the specifics next week, so be sure to watch your email for notification!

Smoke Tests

A few of you may see your BackerKit surveys starting this weekend. One of the stages of running BackerKit surveys is the smoke test, an early step where a small percentage are selected to act as test subjects. The smoke test allows us to refine and correct the survey if errors are uncovered, and it's random as to whether or not you're selected for the smoke test phase.

Shipping

We've now weighed, measured, and finalized shipping costs for the reward levels. The Legacy Edition, if you're wondering, is 10.5" x 13.5" x 5" in size and roughly 11-lbs of adventuring goodness. That's a lot of game, and we can't wait to see the first samples to truly absorb and appreciate the size of the package.

In BackerKit, these are the base shipping costs:

  • Melee/Wizard - $13 US, $17 Canada, EU, and the UK, $27 Australia, $32 rest of world.
  • Legacy Edition - $23 US, Canada, EU, and the UK, $36 Australia, $72 rest of world.
  • I Want It All - $30 US, $42 Canada, EU, and the UK, $78 Australia and rest of world.

Of course, add-ons may affect the shipping costs. Fortunately, BackerKit allows us to properly set the sizes and weights of each add-on, so we can adjust the shipping costs to match your add-on choices as you build your final package.

If you have any questions, please let us know! Thanks!

Melee, Wizard, and Death Test Status, TFT Mapping, and Facebook
over 5 years ago – Wed, Sep 05, 2018 at 11:35:49 PM

Yesterday, the final parts of the Melee, Wizard, and Death Test parts of the project moved into prepress. Prepress is where the last round of checks are made before we move a game into pre-mortem (Steve describes the pre-mortem process in this 2015 Daily Illuminator post). At this moment, we expect to hold the Melee, Wizard, and Death Test pre-mortem next week, which means we should deliver PDFs of those parts of the project the week of September 17.

Boxes in progress.

We will continue to post updates on the status of the components between now and when the printed game is in your hands.

Mapping Tool

Forum user Shadekeep has announced a new browser-based TFT mapping tool . . . and it is awesome! You can try the tool here, and please be sure to screenshot and share any labyrinth maps that you create with this remarkable work. Thank you, Shadekeep, for creating such a valuable tool! GMs, you don't want to miss this.

The Fantasy Trip on Facebook

In addition to discussions at the official forums, you may also want to engage in conversation with TFT players on Facebook. This Facebook group has over 800 users at this time, but we're sure to see that number grow in the next few months as more and more of you start running The Fantasy Trip in home campaigns, in stores, and at conventions. Please be sure to like the page today.

Dungeon Challenge Cards

On a personal note, my own Dungeon Challenge Cards project closed successfully last month and is now only a few days from going to print. Thanks to the review and feedback of supporters of that project, I've completed the edits to the cards and am now waiting for a second test print from the factory. Once I approve those new test cards, the project enters final manufacturing. Two weeks from close to off to the printer feels pretty good, and this wouldn't have happened without the support of Steve and so many TFT fans. Thank you.

If you missed out on the cards -- in PDF or print -- here's a second chance at scoring a deck (as well as something new).
