Megahexes, Wizard Character Pad, and Updated International Shipping Estimates
almost 6 years ago – Thu, Jul 26, 2018 at 01:10:45 AM

There has been some confusion regarding the sheet of die-cut megahexes that was added to the Legacy Edition box when we broke the $80,000 stretch goal. Rather than continue to try and explain the design of these sheets with words, we thought it best to show you the current designs we're working with. At the moment, only one of these 8.5" x 11.5" double-sided, dry erase chipboard sheets will be included in the box . . . but unlocking more stretch goals will add more sheets into the finished box!

The designs (shown above) are not final; we continue to refine the concept as we work on it, so these are examples of what to expect. Also, please remember that only one sheet has been unlocked so far. With your support, we will add more of these sheets to the finished Legacy Edition box.

New Stretch Goal: Wizard Character Pads

Yesterday, we revealed the 2.5" x 3.5" Melee character pads that we've added as a bonus to the Legacy Edition (and opened as an add-on for those of you who want extra packs). Now, we're happy to reveal the $115,000 stretch goal: 5" x 3.5" Wizard character pads for when you're ready to design a Wizard character! If the stretch goal is unlocked, we will add one pad of 50-sheets to the Legacy Edition box (and open up a pack of three of these pads as an add-on).

Updated International Shipping Estimates

To help us unlock those stretch goals, we're happy to announce that we've updated some of our international shipping estimates. In some cases, the estimate has been cut in half; see the project FAQ for the latest estimates for international shipping.

And that's it for now, team. Don't forget that Steve's rpg.net AMA starts this evening, and be sure to contribute your questions to Hunter's thread at the official forums for tomorrow's Facebook video with Steve.

Thanks!

Death Test 2 Unlocked, Questions Answered, Five New Creatures Posted, and a Compilation?
almost 6 years ago – Wed, Jul 25, 2018 at 03:15:24 PM

You're making this better and better with your support! Now, joining the Death Test solo adventure, it's time that our team start work on preparing Death Test 2 for inclusion in The Fantasy Trip Legacy Edition. Thank you! Adding this adventure makes the box so much better; now, fans of solitaire adventures can enjoy even more excitement right out of the box!

Facebook Q&A and RPG.net AMA

Steve is going to be answering questions at two different spots this week.

Over on the official forums, Hunter is collecting your questions for an upcoming video with Steve. You can post your questions here.

On RPG.net, starting this evening, Steve will be answering questions about The Fantasy Trip. You can follow along here.

More Website Extras Posted

Overnight, as our staff slept, you unlocked the $97,500 stretch goal: five new creatures posted to the official thefantasytrip.game website! Steve had the text ready to go, as well as a new illustration by Rick Hershey (who has the art specs for Death Test and Death Test 2 and is at work on illustrating both projects), so we're happy to report that those new monsters are now online. Enjoy!

A Compilation of Website Extras?

Some of you have asked it we will transplant all of the new website content to a printed form. Maybe. We've discussed the idea of a printed softcover collection of those articles . . . but how many of you would truly want and enjoy a printed edition of that new TFT material? And, just as a "what it," what if we also included the old Space Gamer articles in the printed book of extras?

If you'd enjoy such a book -- likely as an add-on item to the project (at no charge, of course, in the I Want It All reward level) -- please leave a comment and let us know. We have a lot of ideas of our own, but we want to make this the edition of the game that you want. Your feedback here, as well as on the official forums, help guide our decisions as we work on the game.

Megahexes and the Melee/Wizard POP
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 24, 2018 at 11:40:48 PM

You've done it! The $80,000 stretch goal is slain, and now the Legacy Edition box will include a single megahex sheet. The megahexes -- die-cut, two-sided, and dry erase -- will be perfect for when you want to construct your dungeons and battlegrounds, and the more of these we pack into the box, the bigger your games can get!

To get another sheet of megahexes, be sure to share this Facebook post. And yes, we will certainly see more megahex sheets listed as stretch goals as the project continues to grow.

Add-On the Melee/Wizard Point-of-Purchase Display

As requested, we have opened the retail POP (point-of-purchase display) as an add-on for those of you who are collectors and anyone who wants three more copies of Melee and Wizard in an attractive cardboard display. This POP is the same one that we will offer to distributors and retailers when the game ships next year; it's not at all vital to enjoy the game, but it is certainly a great way to get a stack of gifts for your friends.

Death Test 2

We're now about $10,000 from the next stretch goal: Death Test 2! If we hit $92,500, every copy of the Legacy Edition (as well as the PDF reward) will include the rules and counters necessary to play this solo adventure. Let's share the project, gang, and break down that next stretch goal!

Bonus: Character Record Pads
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 24, 2018 at 10:12:48 PM

Those of you who have seen the character card designs (discussion at the official forums) and asked for a similar character sheet for use with the game, this one is for you! We're adding a small pad of character sheets (2.5" x 3.5" in size, 50 sheets) to the Legacy Edition, making it even easier to start designing new Melee characters as soon as you've opened the box.

And, because we know the question will come up (we're learning, see?), these are available as an add-on: You can add a pack of three character pads to your pledge for only $5. That's 150 possible characters right there, each one just waiting for your imagination and a pencil to bring them to life.

Social Goals

To get even more cool stuff, we need all of you to be sure to share our social goals. As of this writing, the Twitter post has 123 retweets (almost 50% of the way to the goal!), and the Facebook post has 290 shares. And that's in just over a day, so we know that you can get out there and spread the word, pushing both of these to their goal before this project closes.

Any questions?

As always, we're here to do all we can to help you better understand the project. If you have any questions at all, please post, and our crew will respond as best we can.

Thanks!

Funded!!!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 24, 2018 at 09:39:42 PM

And we're off, gang! After months of behind-the-scenes work by our team, we're proud to bring The Fantasy Trip to Kickstarter . . . and based on the response, you're as excited about the game as we are! So far, you've broken through five stretch goals and are clearly working your way to that next goal: Adding five more slimes to the assortment of extras at thefantasytrip.game website!

Unlocked Melee and Wizard Counters

Two of the stretch goals you've shattered add more counter sheets to the Melee and Wizard boxes, increasing the number of foes in each box and making your battles even bigger! Finally, we can undo one of the very old changes . . .

Playmats

Some have you asked about the playmats. These are neoprene-backed cloth playmats illustrated by Dyson Logos, who is hard at work on the Melee and Wizard playmat designs. We will absolutely reveal these when they're completed; for now, you can find examples of Dyson's spectacular maps at his website.

The playmats use 1.5-inch hexes, making them perfect for anyone who wants to use Cardboard Heroes (the plastic bases will be helpful if all you have are PDFs) or miniatures in place of the flat counters packed inside the Melee and Wizard games.

A couple of messages have come through asking about opening the playmats up as add-ons. Before complicating things, we thought we would ask the larger group: Would you like to see the large Melee and Wizard playmats included as add-ons so that you can get extra copies?

Spread the Word!

Thanks, everyone, for supporting the project. Please be sure to share our Twitter and Facebook posts; if we get enough shares, those two posts will unlock even more goodies and make the game better for everyone.
