Stretch Goal Unlocked, Closing in on Hardcovers
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Jul 30, 2018 at 10:00:22 PM

We've now unlocked the $142,500 stretch goal: Five new practical spells for The Fantasy Trip. These are already posted on the site, and we will be incorporating material into the Companion.

Speaking of The Fantasy Trip Companion, Steve mentioned that some of the web extras will appear in the Legacy Edition box while others will appear in the Companion. At this point, all of it will appear in print; it's just the exact division that is being settled. Steve has decided that some of the new material is worthy of upgrade to the full game set, which will just make the box even better for everyone out there.

Next: $150,000

We're now less than $7,000 from the next stretch goal: In the Labyrinth in hardcover, added to all I Want it All reward packages at no extra charge and opened up as a new add-on item. To break that stretch goal, we will need to bring in some new supporters, so let's get out there and share The Fantasy Trip with everyone!

A few suggested directions to focus your attention include:

  • Don't forget to thumbs up to the new Melee and Wizard covers on BGG!
  • Become a fan of The Fantasy Trip on BGG. In the below image, I have highlighted the section of the page where you click to become a fan. Let's see how high we can increase the number of fans on the site!

The more we raise awareness of the game, the higher our chances of unlocking even more stretch goals. And don't forget, once the hardcover is a lock, we turn our attention to adding the GM screen to the Legacy Edition box.

Stretch Goal Unlocked: The Fantasy Trip Companion
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Jul 30, 2018 at 12:22:46 AM

Now you've gone and done it! You have unlocked the $137,500 stretch goal and all backers at the I Want It All reward level will now receive -- as a bonus item and at no extra charge! -- The Fantasy Trip Companion, a printed softcover book collecting the web extras and Space Gamer articles unlocked as part of this project.

Additionally, we will include a PDF copy of The Fantasy Trip Companion to the PDF package that is included in the $25 and higher reward levels. For those of you who want to get even more, the printed softcover book is also now offered as an add-on: increase your pledge by $15 for each printed copy you would like us to include in your rewards. You'll let us know later, in BackerKit, how many copies you would like to add to your rewards.

More Web Extras

Yesterday, we revealed more stretch goals, including the $153,000, $156,000, and $160,000 stretch goals that each add extra content to the official thefantasytrip, game website. Now that the Companion printed softcover is unlocked, we can confirm that unlocking those $153,000, $156,000, and $160,000 stretch goals will release the articles online and add them to the printed (and PDF) Companion

Spread the Word!

We're still not one week into this Kickstarter project, and you're unlocking stretch goal after stretch goal, making the game more incredible each day. And now that the Companion has been unlocked, unlocking the web extras puts more TFT material into print. But, to keep the project and game growing, we need you to get out there and talk about The Fantasy Trip with the world.

Today, we would like to encourage all of you to go to this RPGGeek post and let everyone know what you're planning to do with The Fantasy Trip once the new game is in your hands. Do you have an adventure you're planning to run? Will you be tackling the Death Test and Death Test 2 adventures over a weekend of solitaire play? Or, just maybe, you're going to get the old party back together and live like it's 1980 all over again. Whatever your plans, by sharing in this RPGGeek post, you spread your excitement for the game to a larger audience and, just maybe, help bring new backers to the project and unlock more stretch goals.

Superheroes in TFT and Dyson's Melee Playmat
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Jul 30, 2018 at 12:22:43 AM

First up, we've posted another unlocked stretch goal article -- Superheroes in TFT from the Space Gamer magazine -- leaving one more Space Gamer article to prepare and post to the site; then we'll have posted all of the unlocked Space Gamer articles. Find them all here.

Melee Playmat

Dyson Logos (website) has done an amazing job with the over-sized Melee and Wizard playmats, and we're ready to share the first design with you. This 14-inch by 24-inch neoprene-backed cloth playmat is part of the I Want It All reward level and will be perfect when you're looking to take your Cardboard Heroes or miniatures into battle. Thanks, Dyson, for such a fantastic job on this interpretation of the classic Melee map!

And, as requested, we have opened up the Melee playmat as an add-on for those of you who want extra copies to give to your friends. If you want one of these playmats, increase your pledge by $25; you'll tell us exactly which items you've ordered during the BackerKit survey after this project has closed.

Melee and Wizard Covers on BGG

We've added the new Melee and Wizard covers to BGG, and now it's time that we ask all of you to visit the site and thumbs up to these two covers (Melee, Wizard). Let's keep spreading the word and alerting everyone to the new edition of The Fantasy Trip; and remember, that GM screen stretch goal drops the screen into every Legacy Edition box; the more backers there are, the greater the chances that we get to create the screen and add it to the game.

$133,000 Stretch Goal Defeated, More Space Gamer Articles Posted, and New Stretch Goals Revealed
almost 6 years ago – Sun, Jul 29, 2018 at 12:32:59 AM

That's another stretch goal down, and we're now well on our way to the $137,500 goal and the creation of The Fantasy Trip Companion softcover book. Fortunately, the $133,000 stretch goal -- five new combat magic spells, posted on the site -- feeds the Companion if we meet that goal, meaning that the possible book gets bigger and bigger as these stretch goals are unlocked.

Space Gamer Articles and a Fantasy Gamer Bonus

We added two more of the Space Gamer articles to the site this morning, bringing the total number of posted Space Gamer articles to twelve; just two more to go and all fourteen stretch goal articles will be on the site. The two latest articles are:

Also, because it's a fitting article to share, Steve's "Where We're Going" from the first issue of Fantasy Gamer has been posted here. You're going to want to read this one if you're interested in the history of the game.

New Stretch Goals Revealed

With the $137,500 goal coming up next, it was time to reveal another batch of stretch goals, three of which are to add more content to the website (which would also go into the book) and a fourth new stretch goal: A 3-panel GM screen in landscape format.

If unlocked, the GM screen will be packed inside the Legacy Edition box, meaning all backers who have selected the Legacy Edition reward or higher will automatically get the screen added to their rewards.

Let's get out there and share the project gang! A few possible places to weigh in on and discuss The Fantasy Trip include:

The more places we talk about The Fantasy Trip and let others know what the game is all about, the more eyes on this project which might bring in more support . . . and unlock more stretch goals. So please, everyone, get out there and let the world know what you love most about The Fantasy Trip!

Another Stretch Goal Down and Two Requested Add-Ons Added . . . On
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Jul 28, 2018 at 04:20:06 PM

It looks like it is time we call Rick and say "Hey, Rick, please upgrade your cover to Tollenkar's Lair to color. Thank you."

And thank you, everyone, for pushing hard and unlocking another stretch goal! Steve and I were reviewing your stretch goal suggestions yesterday, and we'll continue to discuss your suggestions as we work on the game. Please keep in mind that only suggestions we can realistically approach will be seriously considered. No miniatures added to the project . . . but maybe we can explore miniatures for a future project.

New Add-Ons

One request that we determined could be easily fulfilled was the addition of Tollenkar's Lair and the two Death Test solo adventures as add-ons. Those of you who want extra copies of these -- without going in for a second copy of the Legacy Edition box -- can now add the adventures to your pledge. A duplicate of Tollenkar's Lair will run you $10 while Death Test and Death Test 2 (offered as a set, and including the counter sheets) costs $18.

Onward!

Not even a week into this Kickstarter project and you've already unlocked over a dozen stretch goals, making the game more than it would have been without you. And as we grow closer to that $137,500 stretch goal -- the creation of The Fantasy Trip Companion softcover book -- the web and Space Gamer articles continue to come together. Please visit the official thefantasytrip.game website to see what's new . . . and we have more to post before the project closes!
