Latest Updates from Our Project:

Your Face Here - Some Details
over 5 years ago – Wed, Aug 15, 2018 at 08:32:14 PM

This is not a FAQ because it’s only been asked a couple of times, but $1,000 is a lot of support, so we should clarify: How does “Your Face Here” work?

After the campaign closes, we’ll contact you to talk about your character. We’re not going to attach you to an existing character in the book - we will talk to you about how you’d like to be depicted. Stats don’t matter; this is an image. We’ll need at least one good photo of you, of course, and it is best if it’s taken in a pose that fits the character you imagine, and with a facial expression that you'd like to wear in the illustration.

If you have any special personal symbols or accoutrements that you want included, tell us (and send pix if you think it will help)! If you envision a specific kind of background, tell us! If you would like to be near a specific section . . . we cannot promise that, but you can tell us and we can see if it works out.

It will be a B&W image, probably around a quarter-page in size, but depending on page layout, it may be an interesting shape. Or it may be just a rectangle. We don’t know, and we won’t know until the book is laid out.

Dice, New Stretch Goal, and Publish Your Own Adventures!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Aug 15, 2018 at 12:27:43 AM

With the $205,000 stretch goal down, we will add two dice -- one Melee and one Wizard -- to the Legacy Edition box. Additionally, for those of you who always need more dice, we have opened up a new add-on: get one more red pearlized with gold ink Melee die and one blue pearlized with gold ink Wizard die for only $2!

Also, with that $205,000 stretch goal down, we've revealed the $230,000 stretch goal: We will expand the In the Labyrinth book to 176-pages.

The Fantasy Trip To Open To Creators in 2019 Via Limited Publishing License

In 2019, the world of Cidri, the official setting for Steve Jackson's The Fantasy Trip roleplaying game, expands as everyone is invited to contribute adventures (solo and game mastered), area writeup and history, monsters, characters, treasure, and more to the game.

In celebration and support of the return of The Fantasy Trip, Steve Jackson Games will release a limited publishing agreement for the game in 2019.

Under the terms of the license, writers and illustrators will be able to create original PDFs for sale on Warehouse 23, the Steve Jackson Games web store, and earn royalties for the sale of those works. All PDFs offered for sale under this agreement will have the right to use the world of Cidri and the TFT game mechanics, all under an official "Compatible with The Fantasy Trip" logo.

The limited publishing license will provide fans of The Fantasy Trip with more support than Steve Jackson Games alone can manage, as well as offering creators an opportunity to showcase their talents and transform their ideas into official PDFs.

Please watch thefantasytrip.game for more information on the upcoming TFT Limited Publishing Agreement.

More Megahexes!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Aug 13, 2018 at 09:52:58 PM

Greetings, Monday! We start today with the fantastic news that the $200,000 stretch goal has been unlocked, adding more megahexes to the Legacy Edition box. That puts the total number of megahex "sheets" in the box at six -- the 500 Facebook shares goal, 500 Legacy Edition fans at RPGGeek, as well as the $80,000, $110,000, $120,000, and $200,000 stretch goals -- which will offer up a lot of possibilities when you sit down to construct a labyrinth or arena.

"Sheets?"

Why would I use quotes around that word? After discussions with the factory, we have elected to pre-punch the sheets at the factory and pack the die-cut pieces into the finished game. This decision was made because:

  • It allows us to use more space inside the box for the pieces; if we were to pack sheets into the box, the total amount of usable surface area would be less than when we include only the playable parts in the box.
  • It reduces the game's weight, keeping shipping costs as low as possible.

We'll still refer to and treat the die-cut megahex pieces as sheets during the production process, and this change will not reduce the amount of playable content in the game.

BGG Melee Fans and "Hot" Image

As of this writing, we need another 130 fans of the Melee page at BGG to unlock Steve's "five assorted new things for The Fantasy Trip" goal. Can we hit that goal before the project closes on August 24? Of

Additionally, all of your thumbs up to this image at BGG has pushed the two octopus warrior counters to the top spot for the BGG "hot" images category on the front page. Fantastic work, gang! It's the little things like this that continue to raise awareness of the game and drive more potential backers to the project.

Speaking of fun Melee images at BGG, I'd like to direct your attention to this photo by BGG user CrazyJay who constructed a three-dimensional Melee board using a mix of Hirst Arts and Keebler Studios tools. Looks awesome, and the photo totally deserves a few thumbs up clicks, right? Let's all head over there and thumbs up and comment on the pic so that more players get a chance to see this crafty work of art!
