Space Gamer Articles Unlocked, Megahexes, and Interviews with Steve
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 24, 2018 at 09:39:19 PM

Thanks, everyone, for the continued support! You're knocking down the stretch goals and keeping our team buzzing and working away at the project, making it clear that there's still a demand for this classic RPG.

Space Gamer Articles

The $67,500 stretch goal has fallen, and now we'll start work on adding seven TFT articles from old issues of Space Gamer magazine to the official thefantasytrip.game website. Space Gamer, as those of you who have been with TFT since the beginning already knows, was an early gaming magazine and, for a time in the eighties, Steve Jackson Games published hundreds of articles, reviews, and editorials for gamers to enjoy.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Space Gamer magazine, we offer issues #27 to #76 (those published by Steve) at our online store, Warehouse 23. And to make it really easy on you, there's a bundle available: One buy and you get all of the Steve Jackson Games issues in PDF!

We'll post an announcement when the articles are on the site.

Megahexes

Some have asked in the Facebook shares goal (you've shared this post, yes?) has been replaced by the $80,000 stretch goal. Not at all! Those are two different sheets of megahexes, meaning that if both of those goals are met, the Legacy Edition box will include two diecut sheets of megahexes.

What are megahexes? These are two-sided, dry erase pieces that you can use to construct your own labyrinth. And as the project goes on, if stretch goals are unlocked, we'll keep adding megahex sheets to the box (sometimes completely new sheets, sometimes duplicates of already-unlocked sheets). Push this project far enough, gang, and you'll have a hefty stack of megahexes for your collection!

Interviews with Steve

As part of preparing for this Kickstarter project, Steve has been interviewed at different websites across the web . . . and more interviews are coming! If you would like to learn a little more about this project, as well as some of Steve's other works, you can take a little time today and read these three interviews:

We'll be sure to share more interviews in a future update.

And that's all for the moment. Thanks, everyone, for sharing the project and for your dedication to making The Fantasy Trip as big and amazing as we always knew it could be!

Next Stretch Goal: Death Test!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 24, 2018 at 07:04:36 AM

For those of you who have been asking about the solo adventure, Death Test, we're happy to announce that the project's $55,000 stretch goal, if we make it, adds the Death Test adventure and counters into the Legacy Edition box. (And the adventure and counters will absolutely be added to the PDF if we unlock that $55,000 stretch goal!)

If you've ever wanted to try writing one of your own programmed adventures, we've posted Steve's 1987 article, "Writing a Solo Adventure," to the official thefantasytrip.game website. This article will give you a better understanding of how Steve wrote Death Test, Death Test 2, Convoy, and other solo adventures.

Enjoy!
